Charts and trends

Only data we can trace to a named source and a date is shown as fact. Everything else is labelled sample, computed or to be verified.

Verified data Checked 26 October 2026

RBI policy repo rate, January 2025 to October 2026

The chart needs JavaScript. Values: 6.50% (to Jan 2025), 6.25% (7 Feb 2025), 6.00% (9 Apr 2025), 5.50% (6 Jun 2025), 5.25% (5 Dec 2025), 5.50% (7 Oct 2026).

Step chart. Each point is the date the new rate took effect (the October 2026 date is the MPC decision date). Why it matters: home-loan rates follow the policy rate with a lag, so the EMI on a new loan moves with it.

What a change in the loan rate does to the EMI

This chart is arithmetic, not a market statistic. It shows the monthly EMI on the loan you set, at rates from 6% to 11%. Home-loan rates follow the policy rate with a lag and differ by lender and borrower, so use your lender's actual quote.
